Shot Breakdown: the animation process – with David Williams

David Williams, Animator, Animal Logic (Lego, Piece of Resistance; Legend of the Guardians – Guardians of Ga’Hoole; Happy Feet)

Date: Wednesday 4th September 2013

Time: 7:00pm to approx 8:30pm

Venue: the Studio at Metro Screen

Speaker: David Williams

David began animating stop-motion plasticene films in his parent’s garage at the age of 15. After many years of trial and error, David’s short film Humbert achieved moderate success on the festival circuit. This led to work on projects such as Leunig Animated and for ABC Playschool.

The increasing popularity of CG animation led David to retrain in computer animation. His subsequent ten year engagement at Animal Logic has allowed David to develop his skill as an animator alongside the best local and international animation talent. He will talk about the process of animating a shot using a case study from Legend of the Guardians.
